Romanian Constantina Diṭă-Tomescu wins the 2008 Olympics Games women marathon in Beijing, China. Born January 23, 1970 in Turburea, Gorj County, her marathon achievements begins on the 1999 World Half Marathon Championships in Palermo, Italy.

Now, in the 2008 women marathon of the Olympics Games she set 2:26′:44″ (2 hours, 26 minutes, 44 seconds) going across the finish line in the “Nest of the Bird” stadium. Constantina Tomescu won the gold medal in the women marathon. During the race, this great runner started being the leader on the kilometer 20 and kept the leadership until to cross the finish line.
